There are always plenty of networking events, talks or meetups in Bristol. Below is a list of the January events that we find most interesting.
When The Elastic Snaps: How To Stretch Mobile Apps To Fit Tablets – SWUX
Tuesday 7th January 2014 – 7pm
SWUX is the group to watch for Bristol UX events. Organised by Indu Kalla, this event features talks by Craig Pugsley, main designer at Nokia & Jonathan Davies, Senior Visual Designer at Nokia.
South West Founders Meetup – SWF
Wednesday 8th January 2014 – 7pm
South West Founders is a monthly meet-up for people based in the South-West who have been, are, or want to be tech start-up founders. They welcome entrepreneurs and tech investors with open arms, but discourage freelancers, consultants, lawyers and other service providers unless they have a genuine interest in founding or mentoring start-up businesses.
So not a talk event, but a friendly and not-pushy networking event.
CoffeeScript: the “Good Parts” re-brewed? / How to write a game in 30 minutes – BRISTECH
Thursday 9th January 2014 – 7pm
Bristech makes it again with what looks like a fantastic talk line up. I can’t wait for this one!
Bristol Business Mums meetup
Wednesday 15th January 2014 – 10.30am
The Bristol Business Mums was founded by [Nathalie)[http://twitter.com/natalpi] and provides mums in business [or willing to go in business) a monthly friendly support group. This month, the event take place at the Watershed – and I’m told that the cakes are delicious! Little ones welcome.
Bristol Hack Night
Wednesday 15th January 2014 – 6.30pm
The Bristol Web Folks are making the Bristol Hack Night again. The idea is simple. Sit down with friendly web folk and hack / code / design / show for the whole evening.
Lunchtime Talk: Forget the economy, acquire Cryptocurrency – PM Studio
Friday 24th January 2014 – 1pm
The Pervasive Media Studio is well-known for its lunch time talks. And this time they host a talk from Sam Phippen about Bitcoins.
Bristol Ruby Users Group – #BRUG
Thursday 30th January 2014 – 7pm
The BRUG is a monthly meeting for people interested in Ruby and all technologies gravitating around it. We meet here, at the CookiesHQ and usually head to the pub for a post-talk beer.
This month we have the excellent Sam Phippen who is going to tell us why he is sick of discussing nil.
Can you think of more events?
If you think you some events should be added to the January list, don’t hesitate to contact me. We will also try to keep this list as a monthly recap, so if you have an event that you think should appear in this list, again, give me a shout.
