Ready for your next challenge?

We’re looking for an Experienced Project Manager to join our team.

Cookies HQ are currently going from strength to strength – taking on new clients and helping our existing ones grow, so we are looking to welcome a Project Manager into our team.

Are you…

  • a project manager looking for opportunities to work on exciting projects for lovely clients?
  • looking to work in an agency that builds products and brands from scratch?
  • happy to work in a small team, organised in pods made of backend, frontend, design and project management?
  • keen to develop a sense of ownership in your projects and to help our clients fulfil their potential?

A little bit about us

Founded in 2011, CookiesHQ is a growing software development agency in Bristol, UK. We build fantastic, bespoke digital products for businesses with passion and potential.

Since 2011 we’ve grown organically by treating our staff and clients with the highest respect and openness. This is how we’ve built a strong customer base who have been growing with us for many years.

Early on, we decided to offer everyone working at CookiesHQ the opportunity to work from any location they choose, as a one-off or on a regular basis, whether it’s the office, home, their favourite coffee shop, different country or tree-house (hey, whatever you’re into).

As a result, we now have a team that is geographically spread but well equipped to collaborate.

We’re very keen on self-development and work-life balance, so you will get dedicated self-improvement time and won’t be asked or expected to work evenings or weekends.

How do we work?

We work on projects in ‘pods’, i.e. teams within the team. A pod is usually made of a project manager, a designer, a lead back-end developer and a lead front-end developer. Additional developers join the project if and when needed. We also sometimes work with external agencies or freelancers commissioned by the clients (UX, design, marketing, PR).

We usually work on 5 or 6 projects at any time, with a mix of new MVP projects and enhancement or maintenance iterations on existing projects. We mainly work on web applications, but we also develop and maintain mobile apps and complex WordPress sites. Our mission is to deliver unique products and build strong, lasting partnerships with our clients.

A little bit about you and the role

Are you a multitasker who takes pride in delivering great results? Are you a natural problem solver?

We’re currently looking for a project manager with experience of planning and delivering digital products. You should be able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously against deadlines. You will know how to interpret high-level requirements and break these down into smaller deliverables. And you will build last relationships with our clients, old and new.

This is a permanent, full-time role of 40 hours a week, 9am to 5.30pm. You’ll be based in our fast-moving studio in Bristol. Travel to clients outside of normal working hours may be required.

The role:

  • manage all aspects of the project life cycle, from gathering client requirements through to successful delivery and launch
  • engage with product owners, stakeholders and the delivery team to understand business needs and identify appropriate solutions
  • maintain clear and regular communication with clients at all times
  • plan sprints, estimate sessions and retrospectives
  • write feature cards based on user behaviour and backend logic
  • coordinate the projects teams and keep management informed of progress
  • solve problems as they arise and adjust plans
  • support junior project managers.

Required skills and experience:

  • 2 or more years’ experience in software project management, ideally agency-side
  • excellent organisational skills and leadership skills
  • a good understanding of software products and web development processes
  • outstanding communication skills
  • great attention to detail
  • experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • exceptional time management skills
  • bonus: people management experience

Salary and benefits:

  • flexible working – core working hours are 9am to 5.30pm
  • 25 days holidays + bank holidays. Extra days earned after the first 2 years.
  • 5% employer pension contributions
  • life insurance
  • half a day a week dedicated to learning and development
  • salary: £32,000 to £40,000

Following your email, we may contact you for a first interview, usually in the presence of Nathalie (MD) and Nic (CTO). We will talk about you, your background, your aspirations.

If you are successful, we will invite you for a second interview and will set a task for you to complete. You will also have the opportunity to talk directly to our team to ask any questions that you may have.
