CookiesHQ is a small and dynamic digital agency based in Southville, Bristol. We work with a variety of clients in a range of different industries, from local startups such as Good Sixty and CardNest, to larger organisations such as Gap Medics, Patternbank, and Article19. But no matter how big or small, what we offer them is technical solutions to their business problems. We work mainly on Ruby on Rails web applications, but we also develop and maintain mobile apps, Alexa voice apps as well as platforms in other languages.
We work in a fast-paced environment, creating awesome designs, building and delivering features and supporting our clients as they grow and develop. With a number of new clients and projects on board since the start of the year, we are expanding fast and we are now looking for 3 new team members to join our Bristol office: a content manager, a part-time software tester and a Ruby/Rails developer.
Content manager
We are looking for a word wizard who can create original and exciting content for our blog and website. You will also need to have a great eye for details, be organised and creative, and familiar with WordPress, Google Analytics and the different social media platforms.
We will consider part-time and full-time candidates.
The role:
- create engaging content, including (but not only) blog posts and case studies
- plan content and manage delivery
- communicate with clients and team members to find content opportunities
- manage social media accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)
- monitor and report on performance using tools such as Google Analytics
- help to organise and promote events (Design / Build / Market and Bristol Ruby)

Software Tester
We are also looking for a part-time software tester to assess software through manual testing and ensure that our products and apps work correctly. You should have a keen eye for details, excellent communication skills and a good understanding of the software development process.
The role:
- review software requirements
- prepare and execute test cases and analyse results
- test in different environments, including various devices and browsers
- create logs to document testing phases and defects
- report bugs and errors to the development team
- help troubleshoot issues

Ruby / Rails developer
Finally, we are looking for a full-time Ruby on Rails developer who already has at least a couple of years of experience in programming. You should be enthusiastic, have good communication skills and be a dedicated learner, who is committed to self-improvement and career progression.
The role:
- write clean, tested, maintainable and efficient Ruby code
- work with a full-stack development team to build a combined web/mobile app based on Ruby
- follow best practices (test-driven development, continuous integration, refactoring and code standards)
Required skills and experience:
- at least 2 years experience in programming
- Ruby on Rails
- HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design
- CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap
