Connecting high-street heroes and local customers

Consumer demand for better quality, ethical food is at an all-time high, while shopping locally has been shown to have a positive impact on our neighbourhood, bringing money back into the local economy and strengthening communities.

With this in mind, Chris Edwards set out to make independent shops a viable option for even the busiest Bristolians. With Gloucester Road on his doorstep, he saw first hand the amazing products and produce on offer.

Meanwhile, market research showed him that many locals wanted to support their local shops more, but simply didn’t have the time to buy groceries from specialist stores or hunt down local producers.

In this digital age, Chris created Good Sixty – an online platform that makes shopping locally much easier and helps retailers and producers share their passion with others.

“If you need a serious team that understands your startup needs, go with these guys!”

- Chris Edwards, Co-founder and CEO of Good Sixty

Finding the right technical partner

Chris approached CookiesHQ in the autumn of 2015 with his project. His idea was already well defined, both in terms of functionality and business plan. The whole picture was planned out: development, branding and design, PR and communication. It was all there. He just needed someone to take care of the technical side. Chris wasn’t just looking for a team of developers, but an agency that could bring suggestions and raise solutions to his business problems.

In April 2016, CookiesHQ took on the role of technical partner, fully committed to the creation and growth of Good Sixty. Since then, we have successfully launched the minimum viable product and meet regularly to discuss and develop new features to take Good Sixty to the next level. We have also fully supported them in their fundraising efforts.

A lasting partnership

Since pairing with Good Sixty, we have helped them bring the following features and improvements to life:

September 2016 – launched the Good Sixty MVP.

Summer 2018 – brought in improved search and recommendation systems.

November 2018expanded the startup’s services to neighbouring Bath and laid down the groundwork for future expansions.

January 2019introduced the Artisans by Post service to allow customers all over the UK to purchase goods.

We look forward to working with Chris and his team on the development of his fantastic product for years to come.
